ROB SHERIDAN - THE ART OF DARK MATTER

Rob Sheridan is a Seattle-born and based multi-disciplinary artist, designer, photographer, author, and creative director. Working closely with his producer/wife Stephanie Sheridan, Rob’s work has raised money and awareness for humanitarian aid, environmental causes, voting rights, racial justice, LGBTQ+ rights, mental health awareness, wildfire relief, and ocean conservation.

In December of 2023, Eddie Vedder approached Rob Sheridan to create on-stage visuals for Pearl Jam’s, Dark Matter World Tour. It is the first time the band has ever used supporting visuals for their live performances.

To create the work, Rob and Stephanie converted a small space in an old industrial building into a “lab” of sorts where they spent months immersed in experimental filmmaking. Opting for analog tools and practical elements instead of computer generated effects, the couple trained their 1000 fps slow-motion camera and macro lenses on an array of organic materials. Together they traced patterns in nature from the microscopic to the cosmic.

From a droplet in a petri dish to the vast waves of the ocean; from the first sparks of a flame to billowing flares on the surface of the sun; from the nucleus of the iris to the nebulas of the cosmos; we are all one, connected by the invisible forces of Dark Matter.
