DOG TOWN: 50 YEARS OF FUN
August 1st - 23rd
The 50th anniversary of Dogtown Skateboards marks more than a milestone—it’s a celebration of one of the most influential movements in modern skate culture. Born out of the raw, creative energy of 1970s Venice and Santa Monica, Dogtown redefined what skateboarding could be, fast, aggressive, expressive, and deeply rooted in surf style and street culture. Five decades later, that same spirit comes full circle on August 1, 2026, at Adler\Smith Gallery, a space that has become a cultural hub for surf, skate, and music-driven art.
The anniversary party and art show isn’t just a retrospective—it’s a living continuation of Dogtown’s legacy. Adler\Smith is known for hosting exhibitions that blend visual art with skate and surf history and is the perfect setting for an event that bridges generations. The gallery has built its reputation on showcasing work that reflects California’s creative edge, often bringing together artists, photographers, and skaters whose work defines entire eras of subculture.
The show featuring C.R. Stecyk III I, Glen E. Friedman, Chuck Katz, William Sharp, Eric Dressen, Jim ’Red Dog’ Muir, Bryce Kanights, Tobin Yelland, Haroshi, Josh ’Bagel’ Klassman, Toons, and DJ Tony Alva is a lineup of artists whose contributions helped shape skateboarding’s visual identity as much as its progression.
Together, these artists create more than an exhibition—they form a collective narrative. Through photography, painting, and skate-based mediums, the show captures the attitude, grit, and creativity that made Dogtown a globally recognized force. The event is as much about community as it is about history, bringing together generations of skaters, artists, and fans who continue to be inspired by Dogtown’s legacy.
